Does the real estate closing software compute the proration of the real estate taxes and, if so, how?

Yes, the Real Estate Closing software (specifically the HUD-1 & HUD-1A software) can be used to compute the proration of real estate taxes, simply follow the steps listed below:

From within the HUD-1 or HUD-1A program:

  1. Click the Prorate Button.

     Prorate Button

  2. Enter the pertinent information into the pop-up window and then click the Calculate Button.

     

  3.   Copy the text from the Prorated Amount text box and then paste it into the appropriate text box within the HUD-1 or HUD-1A form.
